Working with Variations
When a generation completes it is saved as a variation. A variation contains an outline title with text under each outline. With a Plus subscription, you will be able to add / edit / remove outline titles and text. At the moment, you can't add new outline titles or reorder them but future releases of this feature may have this ability.
The platform's integration with AI provides various functional features which allow you to use the variation in useful ways.
Question Generation
Create Questions You can automate questions by selecting the variation's options and selecting Create Questions. This will automatically generate questions based on the available text.
Create a single question from highlighted text Select some text on the variation, then right-click and select Create Question. This will generate a question based on the selected text.
Modify Questions Once a question is generated you will be able to modify the question and answer text, mark answers correct/incorrect (right click), and delete (right click) the question.
Text Editing (Plus Only)
You can directly edit the variation text. This allows you to write new paragraphs, remove them, or make direct edits.
Inline / Magic Prompt (Plus Only)
You can generate new content by writing a prompt directly into the variation text on a new line. Simply start a new line with a forward slash (/) and enter a prompt (see Magic / Inline Prompt tips below).
Prompt tips
The inline prompt feature allows micro generations to be inserted into an existing variation. This is useful if you would like to provide more info/context to a section of text. The inline prompt will inherit the temperature, tone, and style of the variation to keep the micro generations consistent with the variation.
Inline prompts work best by providing explicit context and explaining exactly what you want. Inline prompts do not include existing variation text when generating so being specific is key. Here are some examples useful examples:
/Provide a list of gas elements in the periodic table. Include the symbol, description, and common names.
/Write a short summary of what a GDPR Data Protection Officer is and list key roles they perform.
/Quote United Nations Human Rights Article 1. Only provide the quote.
The basic structure to think about when making an inline prompt is to start with the instruction, followed by the context, and optionally provide more specifics. When providing your prompt, try to use positive instructions instead of negative ones. AI works better by instructing without providing words like "Don't", "Must Not", or "Exclude". For example:
Good Prompt Example
/Write a paragraph that briefly defines the color red. Then, include 3 known brands that primarily make use of this color in their logos.
Bad Prompt Example
/Write a paragraph that is not long that defines the color red. Then, include no more than 3 known brands that make use of this color, do not includes brands that don't use the color primarily.
Use Variation to create content
Once you are happy with the variation you can use it to create a story, chapter, or article. Select the variation options, then select the content you wish to create. When content is being created, it will also automate images from Unsplash to use as cover images and assets.
Create Article This option will create an article along with automated assets.
Create a Chapter This option will create a chapter from the variation within an existing story. This option will also automated cover images where appropriate.
Create Story This option will create a whole story (Multiple chapters or a single chapter) from the variation. This option will also automate assets and cover images where appropriate.
